A Small Change, a Better Library
Your local library has enough money for one improvement, and you have been invited to recommend an idea. Practise making a persuasive proposal while considering different visitors’ needs.
Key words
- accessible — easy for people with different needs to enter or use
- trade-off — a situation in which you accept a disadvantage to gain a benefit
- priority — something that deserves attention before other things
Tip: Make your recommendation clear, support it with a specific example, and acknowledge one possible drawback before explaining why your idea is still worthwhile.
Your task
Speak for 30–90 seconds at a library community meeting. Recommend one improvement: a quiet study room, a children’s activity area, or longer weekend opening hours. Explain who would benefit and how, acknowledge one trade-off, and say why your choice should be the priority. You may suggest your own improvement instead.
